La facilité is French for lightness – and what conveys it better than a ballerina? Facilitè is one of my first paintings, made on canvas in 2010 at the very start of my path, for the group exhibition Colour – Mood – Symbol at the White Gallery in Kaunas. It shows the dancer in two dimensions: the body separated from the soul. The body is tired from effort, having given everything, yet graceful and still dreaming; the bright, transparent colours give the painting its spiritual lightness. This is the piece that made me start reproducing my paintings: after the original was bought in 2011, at least a dozen more people wanted it. Acrylic on canvas, 70 × 100 cm.
