Flight is one of the rare cases where masculinity takes the lead in my painting – I gave the original to my husband for our wedding anniversary (acrylic on canvas, 50 × 60 cm, 2014). It is built on three colours I return to again and again: a red airplane, blue sky, white. Blue and red are said to be hard to put together – too loud, too contrasting. Easy solutions and pastel colours are not for me, so I take up the challenge; what matters is feeling how intense each colour is and how much of the canvas it covers. An airplane stands for rising up, for journeys and breath-taking impressions. A print for collectors of bright moments, and for anyone who loves aviation.
