About the Artist

Hello, I’m Renate van Nijen, a Dutch-born artist and published writer living in Southern Spain since 2004.

For almost four decades, I have explored colour, emotion and the stories held within faces, figures and symbols. Every image in this shop began as an original painting, created by hand in my studio.

My work ranges from expressive women and Parisian history to flamenco, bulls, Buddhas, angels and inspiration mandalas. Although the subjects and styles vary, they are all connected by my love of colour and the wish to create art that brings warmth, character and inspiration into a room.
