Vishuddha is the throat chakra, traditionally associated with communication, truth, self-expression and the ability to listen as well as speak.
In this original oil painting, the woman reclines peacefully within a world of layered blues. She gently holds the chakra mandala close to her throat and heart, suggesting thoughts, feelings and truths held within before they are given a voice.
The landscape format allows the sailing imagery to become especially prominent. White sails rise behind and beside her, while a small boat appears ready to carry her across the deep blue water. They connect her to the theme running through my Chakra Women series:
Sail away towards your horizon of happiness.
I created this series especially for one of my solo exhibitions in Frigiliana, the beautiful white village in Andalusia, southern Spain. Each woman carries the colours and atmosphere of her particular chakra.
For me, this Vishuddha woman represents quiet, authentic expression. She reminds us that finding our voice does not always mean speaking loudly. Sometimes it begins by listening inwardly and recognising what we truly want to say.
This print is taken from my original oil painting and can be displayed individually or combined with other works from the Chakra Women collection.
