Anahata is the heart chakra, traditionally associated with love, compassion, openness, connection and emotional balance.
In this original oil painting, the woman holds the green chakra mandala directly in front of her heart. Her eyes are closed and her hands rest gently around it, as though she is protecting something precious while also offering it to the world.
The painting is filled with layered shades of green, the colour most often connected with the heart chakra. Subtle touches of warmer colour suggest the meeting of tenderness and strength, while the red circle behind her brings warmth and contrast.
The pale forms beside her can be seen as angel wings or as the sails of two small boats. They connect her to the theme running through my Chakra Women series:
Sail away towards your horizon of happiness.
I created this series especially for one of my solo exhibitions in Frigiliana, the beautiful white village in Andalusia, southern Spain. Each woman carries the colours and atmosphere of her particular chakra.
For me, this Anahata woman represents a quiet, generous love that begins within but is not kept there. She invites us to remain open, to receive as well as give, and to allow the heart to guide our direction.
This print is taken from my original oil painting and can be displayed individually or combined with other works from the Chakra Women collection.
