‘Contained Movement’ Print - Impasto acrylic on canvas

‘Contained Movement’ is held together by crisp white tape lines and a central seam. The surface is built from heavy impasto in a cool palette of periwinkle, lilac, grey, and deep indigo. You can see the physical process right away: palette knife scrapes, layered textures that look almost pebbled, and flat shapes of dark paint that cut through the blue-violet ground. A diagonal band of textured grey runs through the bottom row, and white linear marks cross the panels like a system or map. In the center panel a near-black silhouette reads like a figure mid-motion, while the other squares hold gestures, shards, and negative space. The overall effect is rhythmic but not identical — structure outside, movement inside.

Emotional & Sensory Details
As neuro diverse art, it’s about containment and release at the same time. The grid gives the eye visual “rest points,” which can feel regulating, while the texture and bold gestures let sensory information stay raw and unmasked. The blues and violets keep it sensory-friendly rather than overstimulating, and the repeated framing of six different states reads like parallel thoughts running together. It feels like six moments from one mind, all allowed to exist without being edited down. This piece of art also translates well: the grid becomes a motif, the texture becomes a story you can feel, and the contrast makes it strong in print.
