Manipura is the solar plexus chakra, traditionally associated with confidence, personal power, purpose and the inner fire that helps us take action.
In this original oil painting, the woman sits quietly with her eyes closed, gently cradling a luminous yellow mandala. The circular form appears almost like a sun held against her body, radiating warmth, energy and possibility.
Behind her, the pale shapes can be interpreted as angel wings or the sails of a boat. Smaller boats appear at either side of her, reinforcing the theme that runs through my Chakra Women series:
Sail away towards your horizon of happiness.
I created this series especially for one of my solo exhibitions in Frigiliana, the beautiful white village in Andalusia, southern Spain. Each woman is painted in the colours and atmosphere associated with her particular chakra.
For me, this Manipura woman represents quiet strength rather than force. Her power is held calmly within her. She invites us to recognise our abilities, trust our direction and find the courage to move towards what matters to us.
This print is taken from my original oil painting and can be displayed individually or combined with other works from the Chakra Women collection.
