Wired Differently

‘Wired Differently’ is a painting of pure sensory input. Red, orange, blue, and yellow collide in fast, gestural marks while gold squiggles and drips cut across the surface like electrical signals. Two thick green diagonals slice through the chaos, not to control it but to give it structure. Through a neurodiversity lens, this is what cognition can feel like from the inside. Multiple channels firing at once, color and motion and texture all competing for attention. The gold lines trace the path of a thought that refuses to stay linear, jumping, looping, and sparking as it moves. Nothing here is quiet or singular. It is loud, layered, and alive.

For many neurodivergent people, the world demands focus on one thing while the brain is processing ten. This canvas refuses that demand. The orange bursts, the splattered pinks, the scraped green, and the dripped white all get to exist in the same frame. The green bars act like scaffolding: external systems, routines, or accommodations that do not erase the noise but help it hold shape. The piece argues that intensity is not a deficit. It is data. The composition works because every mark was allowed to speak, even when it interrupted another. That is neurodiversity in practice: not filtered down to something palatable, but witnessed in full volume.
