‘The Brush Stayed’ makes the process visible instead of hiding it. Four flat blocks of magenta, blush, lilac, and dusty pink create a calm, ordered grid, but the thick mint-green arcs break that order on purpose. They don’t form a closed circle. They float, overlap, and leave gaps, with the paintbrush still resting in the center like the hand never left. That reads as neurodivergent creativity: systems and structure are present, but the thinking doesn’t complete on someone else’s terms. The work is whole because the circle stays open, not despite it.

Emotional & Sensory Details
The texture and colour choice also speak to neurodiversity-affirming experience. The mint strokes are tactile and gestural, with visible ridges from the brush that feel like stimming, flow state, or unmasked expression. Against the soft, flat background blocks, they stand out as bold, sensory, and non-negotiable. And the brush itself, named and present in the frame, reframes “tool” as collaborator. It suggests that neurodivergent making isn’t about producing a perfect final product, but about honoring the motion, the pauses, and the joy of making visible.
