For a neurodivergent mind, eye contact can feel like an assault - too many eyes, too much information, too much judgement to process. This painting takes that feeling and turns it into power. The evil eyes clustered together aren't threatening, they are protective. They stare out so I don't have to. On a deep, regulation-blue ground that feels like a sensory safe-dark, the eyes become a shield, a boundary, a way of saying "I see you before you can mis-see me."
The way they float on white paint - some isolated, some merged together in messy, melted puddles - is how masking feels. Sometimes we are separate and exposed, sometimes we clump together for safety, trying to hold on. The white drips are the residue of trying too hard. This is Art Without Labels reclaiming the stare.
