Contained Interruption - acrylic on canvas

This piece speaks directly to a neurodivergent way of organising the world.

The two tall, textured teal blocks feel like anchor points — structure, routine, the things that hold me steady. The olive shapes beneath and around them are the softer processing space: calm, grounding, but still in motion. Then there are the sharp diagonal lines cutting across everything. For me, that’s the brain on a busy day. Thoughts, interruptions, sensory input that don’t ask permission but are part of the landscape anyway. In a neurodivergent brain, structure and chaos don’t take turns. They exist at the same time. This painting holds both without trying to resolve them.

The white space is just as intentional. It’s The White Space Is Mine — breathing room, pause, a boundary. Not emptiness, but regulation. The layered, scratchy texture in the teal shows stim and repetition made visible: doing the same motion until it feels right. It doesn’t need to be symmetrical or “finished” to be complete. This is Art Without Labels. It’s part of my 2026 collection because these colours and this tension are what support my well-being: containment, movement, and permission for things not to line up perfectly.
