- George Sand (1804–1876)
George Sand was one of the most influential writers of nineteenth-century Europe. Writing under a male pen name, she challenged social conventions and became known for her novels, journalism and outspoken belief in personal freedom and equality.
This portrait is my own artistic interpretation rather than a literal likeness. Painted in expressive colours and bold brushstrokes, it reflects both her independent spirit and the emotional strength that continues to inspire readers today.
While creating this painting, I made an unexpected discovery. After it was finished, I realised it reminded me strongly of a close friend whom I lost many years ago. From that moment, the portrait took on an even deeper personal meaning.
Part of my Paris Women collectoin and inspired by my book The HeArt of Paris, this painting celebrates women whose stories continue to inspire courage, creativity and the confidence to follow one's own path. - Poly-cotton blend canvas with a matte/satin finish. Scratch, crack, and warp resistant.
- Vibrant, long-lasting colors with water-based HP Latex inks and UV protection.
- Solid wooden frame from renewable sources, 4 cm deep.
