About the Artist
After years working as a photographer, filmmaker and designer I began to notice a decline in the sense of craft and connection I had to my work.
I started to become envious of painters. The tactile nature of their practice, the textures, surfaces and human movement ... all so enticing.
I set up a small studio space in my bedroom and with music on and brushes to hand I spend time each day with a canvas. Thinking less, moving more.
I create palettes of close up (macro) paintwork images taken from a range of sources including found objects, my own, expressive, abstract paintings, used paint palettes, easels, studio floors and exterior walls and surfaces.
By combining, blending and layering these images I am able to create different vantage points, alter perceptions of scale and build something new from dismantled parts.
