Series Culminating Work V · Hindu Mythology

Vishnu reclines upon the cosmic serpent. From his navel, a lotus rises. Upon the lotus, Brahma sits — and creation begins.

Padmanabhan is the culminating work of the collection and its most iconographically specific. Drawing directly from Hindu mythology, the painting depicts the moment consciousness moves from the infinite into form — the transition that the earlier works in the series have been building toward. Simplified shapes and gold space carry the visual language of the entire collection into its most narrative expression.

In this hand-enhanced edition, Mukta Sareen has worked extensively across the canvas surface with oil and acrylic, bringing a depth and materiality to the mythological forms that transforms the work entirely. Gold is thickened and textured by hand. The figures are reinforced with paint that sits on and within the canvas simultaneously. The tactile quality of the surface becomes inseparable from the spiritual weight of the subject.

This is the most significant work in the collection to acquire in hand enhanced form. It is where the series finds its fullest expression — and where the artist's hand is most present.

Collect the Series

Padmanabham is the final work in the series — the destination toward which all four preceding pieces have been journeying. To collect the complete series is to own a narrative in five acts: from the primordial void, through the first vibration of energy, the expansion of the cosmos, the emergence of form, and finally the mythological moment of creation itself. Together, these five works make a collection of genuine significance. Contact the studio to enquire about acquiring the full series.

About the Artist

I am a contemporary artist driven by a lifelong fascination with the spiritual, the symbolic and the ancient. Trained in fine arts, I have spent decades developing a practice rooted equally in deep research and painterly instinct.
My subjects are never chosen lightly. Whether drawing from ancient cosmologies, sacred geometry or spiritual traditions spanning cultures and centuries, I immerse myself in the history and meaning of a subject long before the work takes visual form — tracing its origins, understanding its symbols and finding its modern resonance.
The works that emerge are mixed media on canvas — richly layered, hand-finished in oils and acrylics, built with a surface depth that rewards close looking. Each piece carries the weight of what went into it.
Based in the UK, I work with an international collector base and welcome bespoke commissions for those seeking a work created around a specific intention, space or subject.
My paintings are made for spaces and people who value meaning as much as beauty.
