The Kaleidoscope is an abstract painting exploring healing, neuroplasticity and the body’s capacity to repattern experience through vivid colour, fragmentation and reassembly.
It imagines healing on a cellular level - a scattering and reassembly of colour, experience, light and shadow.
Fragments overlap and interrupt one another before forming something entirely new: not a restoration of the old pattern, but a repatterning around the truth of what has been lived.
Inspired by my book ‘Still Living’ and the idea that healing is not linear, but kaleidoscopic, this painting asks what it might mean to heal without returning to who we were before - to allow ourselves instead to be reassembled by experience.
The joy and the loss. The love and the suffering. The resilience. The light and the shadow.
All of it belonging and becoming part of the living tapestry of who we are.
