Esperanza
I painted Esperanza several years ago for a solo exhibition in the beautiful Andalusian village of Frigiliana.
She was part of a series I called Mandala Women, inspired by the idea: Take your wings and fly towards your horizon of happiness. The series also included seven women representing the seven chakras.
Esperanza means hope in Spanish, and perhaps that is one of the reasons I have always felt particularly fond of this painting. The woman, the boats, the abstract landscape and the mandala all became part of a world somewhere between contemplation, possibility and the journey towards something new.
The original is a large 100 × 100 cm painting and has been hanging locally for some years. Yesterday I finally took it down to photograph it properly, and I can now make Esperanza available as a fine art canvas print in several sizes.
It is rather lovely to see her on a wall again, even if this time it is a virtual one.
