This canvas print reproduces my original watercolour of Skomvær, a tiny lighthouse island off Røst in Norway's Lofoten archipelago.
In 1896, my great-grandmother Trull left Kristiania (Oslo) at just seventeen to work as governess to the lighthouse keeper's family on Skomvær. She kept a diary of the journey, the homesickness, and the strange beauty of the place. This painting is part of my ongoing series inspired by her words, Föreställningar om Lofoten / Imagining Lofoten.
Here the island sits quiet under a fading peach sky, the sea calm, birds crossing overhead. It's one of the gentler pieces in the series.
This is a canvas print reproduction of my original watercolour painting, hand-stretched and ready to hang, no framing needed (or choose a solid wood oak or black frame).
