This mixed media abstract artwork was created in response to the strange, shifting space between consciousness and sleep, inspired by Bes and Hypnagogia from Nox, the experimental music project by composer and electronic musician Taylor Brook with pianist Vicki Ray.
The piece forms part of a larger musical journey through a single night, moving between falling asleep, dreaming, deep sleep and the gradual return to wakefulness.
'Bes and Hypnagogia" became a visual response to that liminal space, where sound becomes colour, rhythm becomes gesture, and the conscious mind gives way to intuition.

About the Artist
Every painting/artwork begins with a question I cannot answer. It grows through instinct, curiosity and moments I could never have planned. People often ask what the finished work means, yet I believe its truest meaning is found in the space between the painting and the person standing before it. There, memories awaken, emotions shift and new stories quietly emerge. If my work leaves you looking a little longer, feeling something you cannot quite name or discovering a reflection of yourself within the surface, then the conversation has already begun.
