About the Artist
Petra Mörth, born in Styria/Austria and based in Neusiedl am See, draws on a keen sense of aesthetics to create a visual world that oscillates between floral sensuality, travel impressions and a subtle retro charm.
Her painting is intended as a deliberate counterpoint to the harshness of the modern world – a sanctuary that offers tranquillity, lightness and a moment to pause. She draws inspiration from memories of her travels, from intense palettes of colour, lush vegetation and the associated sense of freedom. Stylistically, she draws on a contemporary interpretation of Art Nouveau: soft lines, floral ornamentation and the idea of a harmonious connection between humanity and nature characterise her visual language. This gives rise to both dreamlike, almost fairy-tale-like scenes and ornamentally structured compositions in which flora and fauna are embedded in geometric arrangements or pointillist layers. The contrast between organic softness and clear geometry lends the works a balanced tension between free imagination and formal structure.
In other works, her ability to transform everyday observations into poetic metaphors is evident: the conscious perception of the moment becomes a way of life – a gentle resistance to the superficiality of our times.
Despite her still-young artistic career, Mörth can already point to a number of notable milestones: These include three solo exhibitions and four group exhibitions in Austria. She has also taken part in six international group exhibitions, including in Venice, Florence and Milan. In Montecosaro, her work was further honoured with an award.
