May You Be is part of my series of colourful bull paintings inspired by Spain, the country I have called home for many years.
The bull, or toro, is an enduring symbol of Spain, but in my paintings I prefer to give these powerful animals a friendly, positive energy.

I have lived in the seaside village of La Herradura, on the coast of Granada, since 2011. Here we are surrounded by the Mediterranean Sea and mountains, and elements of this landscape have found their way into the painting.
May You Be was painted in acrylic on an old canvas given to me by an elderly artist who no longer needed it. I deliberately left the canvas unframed and embraced its rough, imperfect surface. I love the additional texture and character it brings to the finished work, almost as though the canvas already had a life before this bull appeared on it.
But there is another layer to this painting. Hidden within the work is a message, a positive intention and, in a way, a blessing for the person who eventually makes May You Be part of their home.
The original acrylic painting measures 70 × 80 cm.
- Poly-cotton blend canvas with a matte/satin finish. Scratch, crack, and warp resistant.
- Vibrant, long-lasting colors with water-based HP Latex inks and UV protection.
- Solid wooden frame from renewable sources, 4 cm deep.
