Rebecca Winkle
Rebecca Winkle (BA Hons) is an award-winning animal portrait artist, sculptor, and fine artist rooted at the true edge of the Scottish mainland. For 24 years, Rebecca and her husband Graham—a multi-disciplinary land artist and author—have lived on a tranquil croft in the heart of the Caithness Flow Country. Alongside the sea and beneath epic northern skies, they raised their five children and hand-cultivated a thriving, symbiotic forest garden. This deep, everyday immersion in the landscape fuels her creative practice, inspiring works that range from vibrant paintings laden with dramatic colour to tactile lino cuts and heavily textured pastel studies that feel as if they were chiselled directly from Highland slate and peat .Driven by her ongoing personal thesis, Pathways through Art and History, Rebecca’s work explores the fine line between raw reality and ancient Scottish folklore. Whether capturing the proud resilience of a native Shetland pony, the therapeutic warmth of a rescue dog on Scarfskerry beach, or curating The ‘Life’ Tree Root Collection from an ancient forest, her art is a testament to the living soul of the environment. Blending professional classical training with an intimate knowledge of the land's natural rhythms, Rebecca captures the untamed majesty of the Far North, inviting viewers to bring a touch of coastal healing, visual storytelling, and absolute peace into their own home
