About the Artist
Hi, my name is María, and I live in the Netherlands with my daughter and husband. We recently moved to a gorgeous small city near Rotterdam called Dordrecht, and we are loving it so far.
Before this, I have lived, studied, and worked in Madrid, Barcelona, and Berlin, all of which hold a special place in my heart for different reasons.

Since 2008, I have been working as an illustrator and designer, collaborating with a diverse array of clients. These include: publishing companies (Penguin Random House, Libros del KO, Cornelsen Verlag), printed media (Yorokobu, Ling, Principia, La Marea, Harpers Bazaar, Quimera, El País Semanal, Eldiario.es), brands (Vueling Airlines, Seagrams, Ray Ban, Sol Beer, Riu Hotels & Resorts), record labels (Jabalina), and cultural collectives and institutions (Zemos98, Pandora Mirabilia, Medialab-Prado). You can view some of this work on my website: www.castellosolbes.com
Whenever I get the chance, I love to collaborate with artists, curators and writers, or focus on my own personal projects. In 2023, I received a comic grant from the Berlin Senate to develop my first graphic novel: Nepenthes.
I began working on Radiant Canopy a few years ago, before it had that name, and before I even thought of establishing my own shop. I have long been fascinated with the notions of Nature and Landscape, and I greatly enjoy getting lost in the pages of old botanical manuals. This work brings together these long-standing obsessions and my passion for drawing. It is, therefore, a very personal project, and I am very excited to share these creations with you all :)
