Gallery Collection 47, Friction Point, highlights thick columns of red and deep green standing side by side, separated but not isolated. The paint is heavy and scored with lines that drag across the surface like interruptions or corrections. From a neurodiversity perspective, this feels like compartmentalisation under pressure. Each vertical band is a task, a thought stream, or a role that has to stay upright while something else drags through it. The marks do not connect the columns neatly. They break, catch, and scrape. That is what executive function can look like when the brain is managing multiple demands at once: not seamless multitasking, but effortful switching with visible friction.

Red and green are opposites on the colour wheel and in cultural coding. Stop and go. Danger and safety. Overstimulated and regulated. For many neurodivergent people, both states exist in the same body, sometimes in the same hour. This painting does not try to blend them into a polite middle ground. It lets them sit in tension, uncomfortably close, with raw canvas showing at the edges. The scoring marks read like intrusive thoughts, external expectations, or self-monitoring cutting across everything else. The piece holds space for that friction. It says the system works, even when the mechanism leaves marks.

  • Poly-cotton blend canvas with a matte/satin finish. Scratch, crack, and warp resistant.
  • Vibrant, long-lasting colors with water-based HP Latex inks and UV protection.
