The Weight of Ink

This is a rich, layered mixed-media piece about the history of writing itself. Set against a warm, metallic gold ground, you’ve assembled real objects — a dip pen, a cluster of nibs, and a bottle of Feather Pen ink caught mid-spill — with fragments of the past: handwritten script, a vintage newspaper page, and a typewriter keyboard. The black ink isn’t just painted, it bleeds and blots across the collage, staining the papers and pooling into the centre of the canvas, while crisp white lines rake across the surface like modern redaction or measurement.

It feels like a timeline collapsing in one frame. From quill to nib to type, every tool that has carried words is present, but the ink spill reminds us that writing has always been messy, physical, and imperfect.
