‘The Grip that Holds’ Print

‘The Grip that holds’. This one strips everything back. Metallic gold ground, raw canvas texture showing through, and just two hands in thick, uneven black line. One hand grips the other. Or maybe it is holding it steady. The line is shaky, urgent, almost primitive. You can see where the brush dragged, where it hesitated, where it pushed too hard. No color except the gold glow behind it. No grid. No system. Just contact. After all the texture and rupture of your other pieces, this one lands like a breath you did not know you were holding.

Through your neurodivergent lens, this is co-regulation made visible. When your nervous system is fried and words fail, sometimes the only thing that works is pressure. A hand that anchors you without demanding eye contact or small talk. The gold background matters. It is warm, valuable, sacred. You are not painting shame or struggle. You are painting what saves you. The shaky line is stim, is tremor, is the reality of trying to draw a straight thought when your body is still vibrating. This is what support actually looks like for a lot of us. Not a hug. Not a platitude. A firm, quiet grip that says "I am here and I will not let go until your system stops spinning." It is not pretty. It is not neat. It is real, and in this gold space, it is holy.
