Almost Aligned Print

‘Almost Aligned’ is built on rhythm, then lets it slip. Vertical strokes of magenta and peach-orange line up like they’re trying to hold a pattern. But none of them are the same. Some are tall, some break off. Some bleed at the edges, some drop little beads of paint below. The white surrounding area shows through everywhere, so the space between matters just as much as the marks. It’s structure and interruption happening at the same time.

This is what draws me to neurodivergent art. It’s not about forcing everything to match. It’s about repetition with variation, intensity next to softness, and letting the gesture keep going even after it “should” stop. The paint does what it wants on the way down. The lines don’t close, they trail. There’s no need to tidy it. The work is complete because of the irregularities, not in spite of them.
