About André Zucca
André Zucca was a photojournalist from 1930 to 1945
Zucca worked for Match in the late 30's
In 1941 he was the only non german photographer to hold a press card
This alllowed him to take thousands of pictures in Paris during occupation until liberation in 1944
Zucca work is highly contraversial
No doubt Zucca did collaborate
But was he not an opportunist to testify with images on a chaotic time ?
Most pictures are not propaganda
Zucca had as many film rolls as he wanted and managed to avoid censership
As a result, several thousands of extremly rare high quality pictures (Zucca camera was a 6x6 Rolleiflex the best at the time)
Last but not least, the images show an immense talent in capturing parisian lifes during occupation through out the capital, the rich and also the poor areas that Zucca was so familiar with ... because he was a parisian too
