VOLUME CONTROL is an intensely expressive collage created on a 12-inch vinyl record sleeve. Built up through layers of torn magazine clippings, paper, and tape, this piece speaks directly to the overwhelming noise that can fill our heads, and the quiet struggle to turn it down and find a moment of peace.
As part of my collection exploring grief and healing through art, the central focus is an image of a woman surrounded by chaotic, overlapping paper layers and fragments of my old original artwork. Placed upon her face is a single, hand-placed diamanté teardrop, representing the tear of grief and bringing the raw emotion straight out of the surface.
VOLUME CONTROL holds a powerful, relatable weight, balancing the sensory overload of internal thoughts with a search for stillness. Every ripped edge and layered texture tells a story of processing the noise to get back to quiet clarity. I have now decided to give these deeply personal works a new home where their stories can live on.
