The Meridian Press. Sidereal IV

In 1995, astronomers pointed the Hubble Space Telescope at a patch of sky approximately the size of a grain of sand held at arm's length. The exposure lasted ten days. What came back contained roughly three thousand galaxies.

The patch of sky had appeared to contain nothing.

Every point of light was an entire galaxy. Each of those galaxies contains hundreds of billions of stars. The Meridian Press declines to speculate on what this means.

"The history of astronomy is a history of receding horizons." Edwin Hubble.

Part of the Sidereal collection by The Meridian Press, a series of prints exploring humanity's relationship with the cosmos, reason and the universe we inhabit.

About the Artist

Premium art prints for the curious mind.
The Meridian Press is a publishing house of unknown origin and uncertain age.

Its mark has been found on a wall in Pompeii. In the archives of Victorian radical pamphlets. On the spines of paperbacks in second-hand bookshops. In the margins of things that should not have been printed at all.

It has always published what it believed needed to exist. It still does.

Each print begins with an idea, a point of view, a decision about what is worth putting on a wall. Conceived and directed by a human designer using AI-assisted production tools. The concept, the framing and the creative decisions are always ours.

The Meridian Press. Est. Unknown. Origin disputed. Purpose clear.
