‘Same Heart Different Flight’ Print

I paint what it feels like to be neurodivergent when no one’s watching.

‘Same Heart Different Flight’ shows two flocks of white birds breaking from the same heart, moving into their own flight paths across a black field. The black isn’t empty — it’s noise, expectations, masking, all the pressure to move in one straight line. The white birds are thoughts, ideas, stims, hyperfocus. They don’t fly in formation. They break, scatter, regroup. That’s not disorder. That’s design.

My work exists so neurodivergent people can walk into a room and see themselves on the wall without having to explain it. “Same Heart, Different Flight” is for everyone who’s been told they’re “too much” or “not enough,” but knew they were just moving differently. I use high contrast and simple forms because neurodivergence isn’t complicated to understand — it’s just rarely seen. This painting is my way of saying: same sky, different flight. And both are valid.
