Keith Haring (1958–1990)
An American artist and social activist whose bold, cartoonish style became a universal visual language of the 1980s. Emerging from New York City's street and graffiti culture, he used his art to bridge the gap between high-end galleries and the public. His work often addressed urgent social issues, including AIDS awareness, anti-apartheid activism, and the crack cocaine epidemic.
