La Dolce Vita I grew out of memories and photographs from travels in Southern Italy – Procida, Ischia and the towns along the Amalfi Coast. The photograph incorporated into the work was taken on one of those journeys.
Balconies, windows and façades appear through layers of paint and photographic fragments. Architecture becomes less a record of a particular place and more a trace of how that place remains in memory.
Moving between the figurative and the abstract, La Dolce Vita I brings together vivid greens, pinks and reds with translucent architectural forms. A memory of Southern Italy – of sunlight, warmth, colour and the particular feeling of being somewhere you don't quite want to leave.
- Poly-cotton blend canvas with a matte/satin finish. Scratch, crack, and warp resistant.

About the Artist
I am a Norwegian visual artist based in Oslo, working with painting, photography, collage, and mixed media.
I am drawn to stories – to people who carry them, places that hold them, and the traces they leave behind. The smooth and flawless hold little interest for me. I look for what bears the marks of life.
Working intuitively and in layers, I build up and break down, add and scrape away, allowing earlier traces to become part of what follows. My work moves between the recognisable and the abstract, exploring memory, place, and lived experience while leaving space for the viewer to find stories of their own.
