Seriously, naming this piece was hard. I think about its title as I paint. Trying to find a connection that meets my satisfaction. Hammering my mind for an answer, searching memories, searching feelings to help explain the story and my intention.
The subtle amber colours, muted pink tones and the geometry reminded me of a sunset journey on a sailing boat. The breeze, the swirling ocean and rippling wake have a horizon broken with the sails. Some in the distance, some close by.
‘Head to wind’ I thought. Na, too literal. I’ve never actually sailed anyway. Something to do with emotion? Na. Too deep, not really the painting’s feeling.
I’ve been building a body of these line works for a solo exhibition, so I reckon this will be the title piece!
