With the fragmented outline of a female body, Catwalk addresses how that body is manipulated in pop culture: constantly objectified, even dismembered into parts with different functions – a means of seduction, or a surface for displaying objects, as on a runway. Using an expressive palette for the main figure, I oppose the stereotype. The body is still organic; it is natural that the skin is sometimes uneven or marked, perhaps with reminders of personal stories. The body once declared a temple is now followed only by a vague shadow of the past. Acrylic on canvas, 110 × 110 cm, 2016. The original has found its home; this print is reproduced from it.
