This painting is originally an acrylic mixed media on canvas size 55 x 46 cm. It is inspired by the beautiful and ancient round churches on Bornholm — the island where I live — and the wildflowers and heather that grow so beautifully on this island.

These paintings begin in stillness and darkness, but are born from a vivacious joy for life.
I make my art from bed and my desk when my body allows. Living with chronic illness means my days are small by necessity. But smallness, I have learned, is not the same as emptiness. I have a sprawling inner world that demands to be expressed.
I paint because I need color in a life that doesn’t always let me go looking for it.
Acrylics and mixed media are my main mediums I mainly paint on thick watercolor or mixed media paper or canvas.
