Gallery Collection 37 - ‘The Weight of Gold’

Rahmen: No Frame
My mixed media is a quiet piece of art in comparison to other pieces that I have designed. A white canvas scattered with small black and gold spheres. Each bead sits in its own island of textured paste, applied with visible palette knife marks. The spacing is irregular but deliberate. Nothing touches. The gold catches light and reflects the room. The black absorbs it. Sizes vary, from tiny pinheads to larger marbles. It looks like a constellation, a circuit board, or rain on glass. There is order here, but it is not a grid. It is a system only you can see.
This is what regulation looks like. After shutdown, after the emotional fallout, this is the careful rebuilding. Each bead is a thought, a task, a sensory input. You had to give every single one its own space to exist or the whole system would short circuit again. The clear gel is the buffer you build around things. The coping mechanism, the stim, the boundary, the script you rehearse so a conversation does not drain you. The gold beads are the good moments. The dopamine hits, the hyperfocus, the times something clicks and you feel brilliant. The black beads are the weight. The executive dysfunction, the social exhaustion, the intrusive thoughts you cannot shake. You have stopped trying to hide. The smears are visible on purpose. This piece says peace is not the absence of noise. It is giving every piece of noise its own assigned seat so you can finally hear yourself think.
