This piece grew out of a sketchbook moment where images and thoughts started to overlap. The close-up of the mouth suggests speech or expression, while the small red marks and the drawn hand introduce a more personal, almost bodily gesture.
I often like to leave fragments of words or notes inside the work. They act like traces of a thought that appeared while drawing. Here, the letters and small marks hint at something that is about to be said — or perhaps something that was better left unsaid.
The image keeps the feeling of that moment: spontaneous, slightly humorous, and a little uncertain.

About the Artist
Hello, I’m Vica, an artist based in Glasgow. I create mixed-media artworks and prints using materials such as paper, paint, thread and collage.
My work often combines simple figures, patterns and bold colour fields. I’m interested in how marks, lines and repeated shapes can suggest signals, movement and the ways we find our place within different systems and environments.
Each piece begins as an original handmade artwork, and the prints allow these works to travel into new spaces and homes.
