This collage plays with the idea of identity as something constructed rather than fixed. The face is assembled from fragments — cut, shifted and slightly interrupted — so it becomes both familiar and strange at the same time.
I enjoy working with found images and combining them with drawing and pattern. The turquoise text and small marks around the portrait create another layer, like background noise or a visual rhythm surrounding the figure.
For me, the piece sits somewhere between portrait and fiction — a face that feels real, but not entirely settled.

About the Artist
Hello, I’m Vica, an artist based in Glasgow. I create mixed-media artworks and prints using materials such as paper, paint, thread and collage.
My work often combines simple figures, patterns and bold colour fields. I’m interested in how marks, lines and repeated shapes can suggest signals, movement and the ways we find our place within different systems and environments.
Each piece begins as an original handmade artwork, and the prints allow these works to travel into new spaces and homes.
Thank you for taking the time to explore my work and for supporting independent artists.
