Painting on Silk 1991 - Painting app. 17 x 23 cm (framed app. 38 x 48 cm, with passepartout)

Art Style
The silk painting combines elements of surrealism with decorative features of Art Nouveau, noticeable in the flowing, organic lines and swirls.

Image Description
The artwork depicts two stylized Venetian masks or jester caps, intertwined in the center against a maritime pier backdrop. The scene is framed on the left and right by gathered, stage-like curtains, revealing the view of the water. Delicate, curved ribbons and swirls cascade down from the masks, enhancing the decorative feel. In the bottom left of the image, there is a subtle, flowing artist signature with 'W.S.' (Walter Schneider).

Image Analysis
Composition: Asymmetrical composition; the red sails ("Gondola") and the stylized canal ("del Grande") form the heavy visual anchor, which is balanced by the horizon.
Color and Light: Strong complementary contrast between the bright red of the boat and the dominant blue of the water; bright, direct daylight creates clear reflections.
Texture: Very dynamic, impasto application of paint; the wave structures and clouds are roughly modeled with noticeable, coarse brushstrokes.
Perspective: Classical distance and linear perspective; the eye is led from the detailed foreground, across the water, to the flat horizon in the background.

About the Artist

Hello dear art friends!

I’m Walter from Germany and a lover of contemporary art. Nowadays, the creative possibilities with digital graphics and image editing programs have become a true enrichment for creative inspiration.
That’s why my motto, "We’ll see each other in another world," has become so vivid.
This applies especially to the surrealist and geometric art styles. Art is a lifelong passion for me, and I enjoy creating creativity in my free time.
Classical paintings with Acryl, Oil, Airbrush, Silk or Pencil are also in my portfolio and posted only in my Gallery linked by "Welcome to Walter's Gallery!"
