Liberty was created through an intuitive and spontaneous process using watercolor, mixed media, and bold black ink. The painting was made while blindfolded, allowing the marks and movements to emerge without conscious control or visual judgment.
The restricted palette of black, gray, and red creates a sense of tension, strength, and raw emotion. Spirals and seemingly random lines appeared during the process, becoming symbols of movement, inner struggle, and the search for freedom. The bold black ink gives the work a strong, almost instinctive presence.
Afterward, I added delicate gold lines and a spiderweb-like pattern. These finer details contrast with the rawness of the original marks, suggesting connection, entanglement, fragility, and perhaps the traces left behind by the journey toward freedom.
Liberty is therefore not only about freedom as an external state, but also about the freedom to create without control—to trust instinct, accept uncertainty, and allow something unexpected to emerge.
