The Guiding Star

The Guiding Star unfolds as a symbolic meditation on humanity’s eternal pursuit of light.

At the centre, the geometric knight and his horse emerge like archetypes suspended between matter and spirit.
The immense lance establishes a powerful vertical axis, connecting the earthly surface with the radiant star above.
This upward movement transforms the traditional figure of the knight into an image of aspiration rather than conquest.

The distant sun, almost absorbed by the horizon, introduces another light: terrestrial, warm, and still imperfect.

The dialogue between gold and deep blue gives the painting much of its emotional and symbolic intensity.

Golden clouds surge from the left while nocturnal blues gather on the right, suggesting two complementary states of existence.

Against their expressive movement, the angular construction of horse and rider introduces discipline, measure, and inner order.

The circular trajectories surrounding the figures evoke celestial mechanics, sacred geometry, and the invisible architecture of destiny.

Meanwhile, the water reflects the golden illumination, allowing the heavens to penetrate the material world.

Yet the true strength of the composition lies in the encounter between movement and stillness, geometry and painterly matter.

The knight does not appear to travel across the landscape: he seems to have reached the precise point from which ascent becomes possible.

His lance touches the guiding star like a bridge between human will and a transcendent principle.

The work consequently moves beyond heroic imagery to become an allegory of initiation, orientation, and spiritual transformation.

The Guiding Star ultimately presents the quest not as the possession of truth, but as the unwavering decision to move toward its light.
