I started Posture No.7 in 2013 on a canvas I had stretched and primed myself. For six years it stood unfinished in my studio. I came back to it in 2019 to show it in an exhibition in my hometown, Klaipėda. Usually a painting is finished when no unnecessary strokes are left and the whole looks seamless; I thought this one was, but the second version still gave me no peace, so I took it off the exhibition wall and painted it a third time. The exciting part: I changed everything except the blue dress – perhaps a secret wish to keep a little piece of the sea in it. Acrylic on canvas, 70 × 100 cm, 2020. The original has found its home; this print is reproduced from it.
